What about a class action lawsuit for the senior citizens whose social security pensions are cut by up to 45% due to the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP)? This provision penalizes local, state and some federal workers who did not pay into social security during their government employment. If they get another job where they do pay into social security, those earnings are cut by up to 45% due to their prior job. How is that fair? And the Government Pension Offset (GPO) does the same thing to the spouses of those employees. The GPO penalizes women who stay home to raise children and depend on their husband’s social security pension. These provisions discriminate against senior citizens. Please contact me if you have the guts to take this on. There’s a group of us who are fighting these draconian rules.
