A Denver electronics repair shop, Acme Revival, is suing Meta and Luxottica for allegedly violating Colorado’s right to repair law by failing to provide repair resources for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
The plaintiff argues the companies did not comply with Colorado’s Consumer Repair Bill of Rights Act, which requires manufacturers to provide independent repair providers with necessary repair materials for digital electronic equipment, including Meta smart glasses.
Acme claims it received at least 400 requests to repair Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in 2026 but was unable to complete some repairs because the necessary materials were not available.
The plaintiff alleges it made multiple requests to Luxottica and Meta for repair materials, but the companies either did not respond or directed Acme to warranty services or replacement options instead.
Plaintiff claims Meta’s refusal harmed business, customer relationships
The Meta smart glasses lawsuit alleges Luxottica and Meta’s failure to provide repair materials has caused Acme to lose revenue, profits and business opportunities and harmed its customer relationships.
“Acme was not offered fair and reasonable terms and costs under which it could obtain the requested repair materials,” the Meta lawsuit says.
Acme argues the companies’ actions have thereby limited repair options for consumers and restricted competition in the repair market.
Acme seeks a court order requiring Luxottica and Meta to provide repair materials for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses on fair and reasonable terms as well as compensation for its losses.
Earlier this year, consumers sued Meta and Luxottica, alleging Meta violated federal and state laws by failing to disclose that its AI-powered smart glasses transmit videos to third-party contractors for human review.
