Larsen’s Automotive agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it charged unlawful towing fees.
The settlement benefits individuals whose vehicles were towed by Larsen’s Automotive from a location within Hillsborough County in Florida and who were charged storage fees for more than one calendar day despite their vehicles being stored for less than 24 hours.
According to the class action lawsuit, Larsen’s Automotive overcharged storage fees for vehicles impounded for less than a full day.
Plaintiffs in the case claim Larsen’s is supposed to wait six hours before charging a $25 storage charge and can only charge one $25 per full calendar day the vehicle is in the lot.
Larsen’s Automotive is a Florida towing company.
Larsen’s Automotive hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members who were overcharged for storage fees can receive a one-time payment of $85.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 2, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Aug. 8, 2023.
No claim form is required to benefit from the settlement. Class members who do not exclude themselves will automatically receive a settlement payment. Class members have the option to update their address to ensure they receive their payment to the correct location.
