Medical Review Institute of America (MRIA) agreed to a $2.6 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to protect consumers from a 2021 data breach.Â
The settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice form Medical Review Institute of American (MRIA) regarding a security incident MRIA learned about on Nov. 9, 2021.
Plaintiffs in the data breach class action lawsuit accused MRIA of failing in the protection of their information during a 2021 data breach. The company could have prevented the breach through reasonable cybersecurity measures, the class action lawsuit contends.Â
MRIA is a clinical and utilization review company that helps medical providers increase quality of care, improve costs and meet regulatory requirements.Â

The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 20, 2023.
