FedEx agreed to pay $1.5 million as part of a settlement to resolve claims that it failed to compensate employees who took short-term military leave.
The settlement benefits current and former non-pilot FedEx employees who took short-term military leave for 14 days or fewer between Dec. 24, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2022, and who were not paid during this leave.
According to the class action lawsuit, FedEx refuses to compensate employees who take short-term military leave. The plaintiffs in the case claim FedEx does compensate employees who take other, similar leaves but fails to do the same for service members, violating the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
FedEx is an international shipping company that delivers millions of packages around the globe each day.
FedEx hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.5 million settlement to resolve the paid leave class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount of compensation they would have earned from FedEx had they not taken short-term military leave.Â
Exact payments will vary. No payment estimates are available at this time.
There is no exclusion deadline for the settlement. The deadline for objection is July 10, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the FedEx settlement is scheduled for July 31, 2023.
No claim form is required to benefit from the settlement. Class members will automatically receive a cash payment if the settlement is approved.
