Honda, Land Rover, Volkswagen, Nikola, Tesla and FCA initiated recalls in late March and April to address issues revolving around safety concerns.
Automakers may choose to initiate a recall in the event they determine a problem with their vehicles could pose a danger to drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other vehicles on the roadway.
Honda recalls almost 564,000 Honda CR-Vs over concerns road salt can rust frames
Honda announced a recall for nearly 564,000 of its model 2007-2011 Honda CR-Vs over concerns encountering road salt could cause their frames to rust and their rear suspensions to come loose.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published the recall March 30. It includes vehicles sold in areas where salt is used to clear roads during the winter months.
Volkswagen recalls Taos vehicles over concerns they can lose engine power
Volkswagen recalled 15,874 of its model year 2022 VW Taos vehicles over concerns they were equipped with defective fuel delivery modules.
The NHTSA published the recall March 29. It states the defect can cause the recalled VW Taos vehicles to have their check engine and/or EPC light to turn on, and, in rare cases, can lead to a sudden loss of engine power.
Tesla announces recall for model year 2023 semi trucks over parking brake concerns
Tesla recalled 35 of its model year Tesla 2023 semi trucks over concerns their parking brakes can fail.
The NHTSA published the recall March 24. The agency is asking owners of the recalled Tesla semi trucks to replace their parking valve module, which can be done at the automaker’s expense.
Land Rover recalls seven-seat Range Rovers over concerns seats not properly secured
Land Rover initiated a recall for 500 of its model year 2022-2023 Land Rover Range Rover seven-seat vehicles last month over concerns some of their seats may not be secured properly.
The NHTSA published the recall April 6. The concern is that the recalled Range Rover vehicles may have been manufactured with a second-row seat frame latch that was incorrectly welded.
Volkswagen issues recall for Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport vehicles over front passenger airbags
Volkswagen recalled 143,053 of its model year 2018-2021 Volkswagen Atlas and model year 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vehicles over concerns they may have been equipped with faulty front passenger airbags.
The NHTSA published the recall March 29. The concern is the front passenger airbags may not deploy in the event of a crash.
Owners of the recalled vehicles are being urged not to let anyone sit in the front passenger seat until the problem is fixed.
FCA recalls more than 130,000 Ram 1500 trucks over potential powertrain software issue
FCA US recalled 131,700 of its model year 2021 Ram 1500 pickup trucks last month over concerns they may contain a powertrain software issue.
The NHTSA published the recall April 13. The recall applies to certain model year 2021 Ram 1500 pickup trucks that are equipped with 5.7L eTorque engines.
The concern is faulty powertrain software may lead to an incorrect fuel mixture condition in the vehicles’ engine, which could lead to an engine stall.
Nikola recalls 2022-2024 trucks over concerns parking brake doesn’t engage brakes
The Nikola Corp. recalled 364 of its model year 2022-2024 trucks last month over concerns they contain an issue that can cause their brakes not to engage when the parking brake is pulled.
The NHTSA published the recall April 13. The concern is the recalled vehicles may contain a defective Bendix Intellipark Towing Park Brake Module that can become stuck in an “un-parked” position.
Drivers of the recalled vehicles may notice that pulling on their parking brake does not trigger the parking brake indicator.
Honda recalls side-view mirrors on more than 330,000 vehicles
Honda has recalled the side-view mirrors on 330,318 of its vehicles for certain model years of its Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline and Odyssey vehicles.
The NHTSA published the recall March 24 over concerns adhesive tape used on the mirror heat pads for an estimated 1% of the recalled vehicles could lose adhesion ability due to vibration, causing the mirrors to fail.
Honda said it has received 71 separate warranty claims related to the issue between May 2020 and October 2022, but said it has not received any reports of injury in connection with the recall.
