Dodge recall overview:

  • Who: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling 74,578 Dodge Durango vehicles.
  • Why: Rear spoilers may detach, creating road debris and increasing crash risk.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Chrysler is recalling more than 74,000 Dodge Durango vehicles due to a defect that could lead to the rear spoiler detaching. This issue affects models from 2021 to 2023 and could create road debris and increase the risk of a crash.

The recall was submitted on Aug. 13 to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under recall number 26V528.

The recall affects Dodge Durango vehicles produced between July 13, 2020, and March 28, 2023.

According to the Dodge recall, the rear spoilers on the vehicles may be over-flush to the roof, which can cause them to contact the roof when the liftgate is cycled.

Chrysler says it has received 116 warranty claims potentially related to this defect.

Vehicle owners should look out for signs of the defect

The recall notice highlights that vehicle occupants might notice the spoiler hitting the body when opening or closing the liftgate, or hear a rattle from a loose spoiler while driving.

Chrysler says it is actively working on a solution and that the recall is not related to a part defect but rather an assembly issue.

The company is expected to notify dealers on Aug. 20. and begin owner notifications by Sept. 10.
