Honda mirror recall overview:

  • Who: Honda recalled the side-view mirrors on 330,318 vehicles that include some years of the Honda Pilot, Honda Passport, Honda Ridgeline and Honda Odyssey.
  • Why: The adhesive tape on the mirror heater pads can lose adhesion due to vibration, causing the mirror to fall.
  • Where: The Honda mirror recall is effective in the United States.
  • What are my options: Dollar Rent-a-Car, a Top Class Actions partner, is a good alternative for Honda consumers.

Honda has issued a recall of 330,318 vehicle side-view mirrors, with an estimated 1% defective, due to an issue with the adhesive on the mirrors’ heating pad.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the recall because the adhesive issue can cause a mirror to fall and the driver to lose the ability to see other traffic. Honda received 71 warranty claims between May 2020 and October 2022 but no injury claims, according to the Honda mirror recall.

The Honda mirror recall includes gas-powered vehicles produced from Jan. 3, 2020, through July 23, 2021: the 2020-2021 Honda Pilot, the 2020-2022 Honda Passport, the 2020-2021 Honda Ridgeline and the 2020-2022 Honda Odyssey.

Affected owners should bring vehicle to dealer for repair, according to Honda mirror recall

Honda says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The automaker informed manufacturers of the mirror recall on March 17 and will mail recall notices to affected consumers May 8. Customers can contact Honda at (888) 234-2138. Owners who repaired the defect at their own expense can file for reimbursement.

In other Honda news, the automaker issued a “do not drive” recall on 2001-2003 Honda and Acura vehicles equipped with faulty Takata Alpha driver-side airbag inflators in February.
