10. Target Data Breach Settlement Payouts: $1,200+
In late August, our readers started to receive settlement checks worth up to $1,201.88! These settlement payouts were distributed as part of a $10 million settlement with Target regarding a massive data breach.
Plaintiffs in the Target class action lawsuits, which were eventually consolidated into a multidistrict litigation, claimed that the retailer failed to protect consumer information during a cybersecurity breach which occurred over the 2013 holiday season.
The Target data breach reportedly affected between 70 million and 110 million Target customers who shopped at the retailer’s stores in November and December of 2013.
In order to benefit from the settlement, consumers needed to file a claim by July 31, 2015.
The Target Data Breach Multidistrict Litigation is In re: Target Corp. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, MDL No. 2522, in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota.
9. XL Foods E. Coli Settlement Payouts: $1,700
Top Class Actions readers started receiving settlement checks worth up to $1,700 in May 2019. These settlement payouts were the result of a $4 million settlement with XL Foods which resolved claims that the company’s beef products were included in a 2012 E. coli recall.
According to the plaintiffs in the XL Foods E. coli class action lawsuit, the company negligently allowed their beef products to be contaminated with the bacteria through subpar control, sampling, and testing procedures. The plaintiffs also claimed that XL Foods poorly handled the subsequent recall of their beef products.
In order to benefit from the settlement, consumers needed to file a valid claim by Aug. 17, 2016.
The XL Foods E. Coli Contamination Class Action Lawsuit is Matthew Harrison, et al. v. XL Foods Inc., Case No. 1203-14727, in the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, Edmonton.
8. Lidoderm Price Fixing Settlement Payouts: $1,800+
Our readers reportedly received settlement checks worth up to $1,836 in a Lidoderm class action settlement. The settlement payouts resulted from a large $105 million settlement deal which resolved antitrust claims against several companies.
Plaintiffs in the Lidoderm class action claimed that several companies entered into an illegal antitrust scheme to artificially increase the price of Lidoderm pain patches. The alleged scheme reportedly resulted in consumers paying more for the Lidoderm products than they should have.
In order to benefit from the settlement, consumers needed to file a claim by Oct. 1, 2018.
The Lidoderm Pain Patch Price-Fixing Class Action Lawsuit is In re: Lidoderm Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 14-md-2521-WHO, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
7. Safeway Online Delivery Settlement Payouts: $2,200+
In July 2019, Top Class Actions viewers reported receiving settlement checks worth up to $2,289.83! These large settlement payouts resulted from a $41.9 million class action settlement with Safeway.
Plaintiffs in the Safeway class action lawsuit claimed that they were forced to pay more for groceries when ordering products for delivery online compared to in-store grocery prices.
Consumers argued that they were charged an extra 10 percent on top of the $7 to $13 delivery fee charged for having their groceries delivered. These higher prices allegedly violated Safeway’s assurances that prices remained the same for online and in-store purchases.
In order to benefit from this settlement, consumers were not required to file a claim – payments were automatically distributed unless Class Members opted out.
The Safeway Grocery Delivery Class Action Judgement is Rodman v. Safeway Inc., Case No. 3:11-cv-03003-JST, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
6. Real Hambone Dog Treat Settlement Payouts: $2,500
Our readers received settlement checks worth up to $2,500 in April 2019 as part of a Real Ham Bone class action settlement. Settlement payouts were reportedly capped at $2,500, even if consumers had more than this amount in expenses.
Plaintiffs in the Real Ham Bone class action claimed that Dynamic Pet Products produced Real Ham Bone dog treats made of slaughterhouse waste and toxins. These treats could allegedly shatter into “needle-like shards” when chewed by dogs which reportedly resulted in internal injuries and significant vet bills.
In order to benefit from the settlement, consumers needed to file a Claim Form by Sept. 9, 2017.
The Real Ham Bone Class Action Lawsuit is Michael Taylor, et al. v. Dynamic Pet Products LLC, et al., Case No. 1616-CV11531, in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri at Independence.
5. Experian Data Breach Settlement Payouts: $2,700+
In December 2019, our readers reportedly received settlement checks worth up to $2,744 from an Experian data breach settlement. Consumers were reportedly eligible to recover thousands of dollars in settlement payouts for data breach costs.
The $22 million settlement resolve claims from a 2015 data breach that reportedly compromised sensitive information of around 15 million consumers.
Plaintiffs in the Experian data breach class action claimed that the data breach compromised names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, military ID numbers, passport numbers, and other information which could be used by identity thieves.
In order to benefit from this settlement, consumers needed to file a valid claim by April 11, 2019.
The Experian Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit is In re: Experian Data Breach Litigation, Case No. 8:15-cv-01592, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
4. Washington Lyft Spam Text Settlement Payouts: $3,700+
Washington readers reportedly started to receive settlement checks worth up to $3,716.40 from a Lyft class action in December 2019. The nearly $4 million in settlement payouts resolved claims that Lyft violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
Plaintiffs in the Lyft TCPA class action claimed that the rideshare company sent unsolicited text messages as a part of their “Invite a Friend” program. The texts allegedly offered recipients a $35 credit if they downloaded the Lyft app. The consumers argued that they had not consented to receive these text messages.
In order to benefit from the settlement, consumers needed to file a valid Claim Form by March 15, 2019.
The Lyft Washington TCPA Class Action Lawsuit is Wright v. Lyft Inc., Case No. 2:14-cv-00421, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
3. Anthem Data Breach Settlement Payouts: $5,000
In early December 2019, our readers reportedly started to receive settlement checks worth up to $5,000 as part of an Anthem data breach class action settlement. The $115 million settlement resolved claims regarding a 2015 data breach.
Plaintiffs in the Anthem data breach class action claimed that a 2015 data breach compromised the information of approximately 79 million people. The data breach allegedly occurred as a result of Anthem’s negligence. The consumers accused the company of failing to protect consumer information and putting their customers at risk.
In order to benefit from the settlement payouts, consumers needed to file a valid Claim Form by Aug. 16, 2019.

2. California Cipro Pricing Settlement Payouts: $6,800+

Plaintiffs in the Cipro class action lawsuit claimed that several companies such as Bayer conspired to suppress generic versions of Cipro, an antibiotic drug. The alleged scheme reportedly resulted in consumers being forced to pay higher prices for brand name Cipro due to a lack of lower cost, generic alternatives.
In order to benefit from the California Cipro class action settlement, consumers needed to file a valid Claim Form by May 31, 2019.

Plaintiffs in the freight forwarding class action claim that companies conspired together to artificially increase the costs of freight forwarding services. The affected services reportedly helped organize the movement of goods between the United States and China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
In order to benefit from the most recent round of settlement payouts, consumers needed to file a valid Claim Form by April 3, 2017.

It usually takes about 6 months from the deadline. Sometimes a little bit longer. When my first one finally came in the mail I was so excited lol now I usually get a few checks a month at least. Getting the mail is the highlight of my day lol
