Target Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Top Class Actions viewers are getting checks from the Target data breach class action settlement worth as much as $1,201.88.

The Target data breach class action settlement resolves claims that Target did not do enough to protect customers from a data breach that occurred over the 2013 holiday season. The settlement for the claims was $10 million.

The Target class action settlement ended dozens of class action lawsuits filed against Target over the data breach. The data breach class action lawsuits were consolidated into one multidistrict litigation against the retail giant.

According to the Target data breach class action lawsuits, between 70 million and 110 million customers who shopped at Target stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 18, 2013, were affected by the data breach.

Allegedly, credit card information was stolen, as was personal information including email and home mailing addresses.

The deadline to file a claim in the Target data breach class action settlement was July 31, 2015.

Target customers were represented by Vincent J. Esades of Heins Mills & Olson PLC.

The Target Data Breach Multidistrict Litigation is In re: Target Corp. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, MDL No. 2522, in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota.

SeaWorld EZ Pay Class Action Settlement

Top Class Actions viewers are also receiving checks worth as much as $95.47 from the SeaWorld EZ Pay class action settlement.

The $11.5 million settlement was reached with SeaWorld customers who claimed that the theme park enrolled them in an automatic membership program without their consent.

Allegedly, when customers paid for year-long passes and paid them in full, SeaWorld continued to charge customers’ credit cards and renew the passes, even after the initial passes had been paid off, and even if the customer did not consent to the auto renewal.

Class Members included customers who purchased one-year SeaWorld EZ pay passes to any of SeaWorld’s parks in California, Florida, Texas, or Virginia.

Date restrictions apply, depending on where the SeaWorld pass was purchased, including:

  • California: Dec. 3, 2009 to Dec. 3, 2014
  • Texas: Dec. 3, 2009 to Dec. 3, 2014
  • Florida: Dec. 3, 2008 to Dec. 3, 2014
  • Virginia: Dec. 3, 2008 to Dec. 3, 2014

The deadline to file a claim in the SeaWorld auto renewal class action settlement was March 19, 2019.
