Our readers are reportedly receiving payments from an EZPawn TCPA class action lawsuit settlement.

The settlement benefits consumers who received at least one text message from EZPawn regarding its goods or services since Oct. 1, 2019.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit accused EZPawn of contacting them with unsolicited text message advertisements in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). According to the class action lawsuit, these texts also violated Florida’s Telephone Solicitation Act (FTSA). Consumers claim they never consented to receive text message ads from EZPawn.

EZPawn agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the telemarketing claims. Under the terms of the settlement, consumers could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Top Class Actions readers have reported receiving payments of $70 from the settlement.

The EZPawn TCPA class action lawsuit settlement is Kowlessar v. EZPawn Florida Inc., Case No. 2022-008506-CA-01, in the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County.

Thinx underwear chemicals class action rebates

Top Class Actions readers have reportedly started to receive payments from a $4 million class action lawsuit settlement.

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased Cotton Brief, Cotton Bikini, Cotton Thong, Sport, Hiphugger, Hi-Waist, Boyshort, French Cut, Cheeky and Thong style Thinx underwear between Nov. 12, 2016, and Nov. 28, 2022.

According to the Thinx class action lawsuit, the brand’s period underwear is made with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS — dangerous chemicals linked to serious health issues, including congenital disabilities and cancer. Plaintiffs in the case claim Thinx intentionally added PFAS to its underwear due to the chemicals’ resistant properties.

Thinx agreed to pay $4 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, consumers could receive a cash payment based on their proof of purchase and how many eligible products they purchased. Our readers have reported receiving payments of $10.50 from the settlement.

The Thinx underwear class action lawsuit settlement is Dickens, et al. v. Thinx Inc., Case No. 1:22-cv04286-JMF, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Utz snacks false advertising settlement checks (Round 2)

Checks are reportedly in the mail from the second round of payments in a $1.25 million Utz, Bachman false advertising class action settlement.

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased certain Utz and Bachman snack products labeled “all natural” between Dec. 30, 2010, and March 30, 2019.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim that Utz and Bachman snack products were falsely labeled as “all natural,” “natural,” “non-GMO,” or “non synthetic.” In reality, these products allegedly contained artificial ingredients and genetically modified organisms. Consumers claim they wouldn’t have purchased the products or paid as much if they knew the truth.

Utz agreed to pay $1.25 million to resolve the false advertising class action lawsuit. The first round of payments from the settlement resulted in payments of $3.72 for eligible consumers. Our readers have reported receiving additional payments of $1.15 from the second round of distribution. 

The Utz false advertising class action lawsuit is DiFrancesco, et al. v. UTZ Quality Foods Inc., Case No. 1:14-­cv-­14744, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Citrix TCPA class action rebates

Top Class Actions readers report receiving payments from a $2.75 million TCPA class action lawsuit settlement.

The settlement benefits individuals who received one or more phone calls from Citrix, two or more calls while the recipient’s number was on the National Do Not Call Registry and/or received one or more calls after asking Citrix to stop calling.

According to the class action lawsuit, Citrix called consumers with unsolicited robocalls without first getting their express written consent. Plaintiffs claim that these calls violated the TCPA because they did not consent first. 

Citrix agreed to pay $2.75 million to resolve the TCPA class action lawsuit. Under the terms of the settlement, class members could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Top Class Actions readers have reported receiving electronic payments of $40.38 from the settlement.

The Citrix TCPA class action lawsuit settlement is Boger, et al. v. Citrix Systems Inc., Case No. 8:19-cv-01234-LKG, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Connected Investors TCPA settlement checks

Payments are in the mail from a $2 million TCPA class action lawsuit settlement with Connected Investors.

The settlement benefits consumers who received at least one prerecorded voice message from Connected Investors’ advertising the company’s goods and services between April 28, 2017, and Sept. 26, 2022.

The telemarketing class action lawsuit claims that Connected Investors contacted consumers with pre-recorded voicemails without permission. According to plaintiffs in the case, Connected Investors violated TCPA by failing to obtain consumer consent. 

Connected Investors agreed to pay $2 million to resolve the TCPA class action lawsuit. Under the terms of the settlement, consumers could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Our readers have reported receiving payments of $29.10 from the settlement.

The Connected Investors TCPA class action lawsuit settlement is Silva, et al. v. Connected Investors Inc., Case No. 7:21-cv-00074-BO, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

National Grid TCPA class action rebates (Round 2)

Top Class Actions readers have received a second round of payments from a $38.5 million class action lawsuit settlement with National Grid.

The settlement benefits individuals who received a pre-recorded call or a call that used an artificial voice between March 9, 2011, and Oct. 29, 2021, from National Grid and its East Coast utility entities.

National Grid allegedly called millions of customers with automatic and prerecorded calls regarding bill payments, disconnection notices and other topics. Plaintiffs in the telemarketing class action lawsuit allege National Grid violated the TCPA by contacting consumers without obtaining their written consent.

National Grid agreed to pay $38.5 million to resolve the TCPA class action lawsuit. Under the terms of the settlement, consumers could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Top Class Actions readers have reported receiving payments of $7 from the settlement’s second round of payments.

The National Grid TCPA class action lawsuit settlement is Jenkins, et al. v. National Grid USA Service Co. Inc., et al., Case No. 15-cv-1219, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
