Frozen pizza recall announced due to undeclared soy allergen

802 VT Frozen issued a recall for 8,221 pounds of frozen meat pizza due to the presence of soy, which the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered during a routine inspection.

802 VT Frozen produced the affected pizzas between April 25, 2023, and April 25, 2024, according to the recall notice. They are packaged in 17.8-ounce cardboard boxes labeled “802 VT Frozen MEAT!!! CRISPY WOOD-FIRED CRUST HAND MADE PIZZA.”

The pizzas bear establishment number “EST. 46308” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The company distributed them to retailers and fundraisers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont, the recall notice states.

802 VT Frozen has not received any reports of illness or adverse effects related to the recalled pizzas, the recall notice says. The FSIS advises consumers not to consume the recalled pizzas.

Concerned consumers can contact Hilarie Wright, 802 VT Frozen owner, at 802-274-1177 or hilarie26@gmail.com for further information.

Hyundai issues recall due to potential Genesis fuel pump defect

Hyundai issued a recall for 31,440 of its 2021-2023 Genesis GV70, GV80, G80 and G90 vehicles due to concerns regarding the fuel pump assembly.

The automaker says the fuel pump assembly in these vehicles can deform under high heat conditions, according to the recall notice. This can cause interference with the fuel pump housing, resulting in mechanical resistance that may lead to a sudden shutdown of the fuel pump. This shutdown can restrict fuel flow to the engine, potentially causing a sudden reduction or loss of power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Vehicle owners will receive notification via mail around June 18 instructing them to bring their vehicles to a Genesis retailer for inspection and replacement of the low-pressure fuel pump assembly at no cost, the recall notice states.

Additionally, Hyundai is offering reimbursement for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by owners related to the recall. For further assistance or inquiries, consumers can contact Hyundai North America at 800-633-5151.

3M issues recall for noise-reducing earmuffs due to potential breakage

3M initiated a recall for 46,700 units of its Peltor X4 series noise-reducing earmuffs due to a potential risk of cracking, which could result in excessive exposure to loud noise. About 40,000 earmuffs were distributed in the United States, with the remaining 6,700 in Canada.

The earmuffs subject to the recall may develop cracks in the colored portion of their plastic cups, compromising their ability to reduce noise effectively, the recall notice states. The earmuffs come in black with either green or orange accents and are available in over-the-head, behind-the-head, hard hat-attached or full brim hard hat-attached styles, all bearing the “3M PELTOR” stamp on the outer earcups.

3M has not received any reports of injury related to the products to date; however, customers should stop using them immediately and contact 3M for a complimentary replacement, including free shipping.

For assistance, individuals can reach out to the 3M Technical Service Team by phone at 800-243-4630 during business hours or online.

Mario Kart toys recall announced due to acceleration pedal defect

JAKKS Pacific issued a recall for approximately 17,500 units of its Mario Kart 24V Ride-On Racer Car toys due to concerns regarding potential safety hazards.

The company highlighted a specific issue where the acceleration pedal on the Mario Kart toys may become obstructed with debris and remain stuck after a user removes their foot, according to the recall notice. This recall was prompted by a notification published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission April 25.

The recall includes Mario Kart 24V Ride-On Racer Car toys bearing certain date codes, including 1752VE01, 1782VE01, 1952VE01, 2242VE01, 2352VE01, 2852VE01 and 0583VE01.

Consumers who purchased these affected Mario Kart toys should stop use immediately and contact JAKKS Pacific to obtain a complimentary repair kit, according to the recall notice. JAKKS Pacific says it received 65 incident reports related to pedal obstruction with 15 instances resulting in the toys colliding with permanent structures and one injury reported.

The recalled Mario Kart toys were available online at Amazon, Macy’s and GameStop, as well as various brick-and-mortar locations, including Target, Walmart, Entertainment Earth and Nebraska Furniture Mart stores.

NHTSA to investigate Tesla Autopilot recall

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiated an investigation into the effectiveness of the Tesla Autopilot recall after determining the measures taken were inadequate in addressing system issues.

This recall, which included 2 million vehicles spanning model years 2017 to 2023, affects various Tesla models, such as the Model 3, Model S, Model X and Model Y.

Launched in August 2021, the NHTSA’s safety probe into Autopilot revealed a concerning pattern involving at least 13 Tesla-related crashes resulting in fatalities, alongside numerous incidents causing severe injuries, often attributed to what appeared to be foreseeable misuse of the system by drivers, according to investigation documents.

Among the reported cases, there were 54 instances of serious injuries stemming from Autopilot-related crashes linked to potential driver misuse.

The investigation underscored shortcomings in the Autopilot system’s ability to ensure driver attention and appropriate usage, while also noting that the system’s design inadvertently fostered overreliance on its capabilities, potentially leading to increased confidence among drivers despite the need for continuous human supervision.
