Trader Joe’s recalls Infinite Herbs Organic Basil due to potential salmonella contamination
Trader Joe’s announced a recall of its Infinite Herbs Organic Basil due to potential contamination with salmonella.
The affected product is packaged in 2.5-ounce quantities and was distributed across 29 U.S. states and the District of Columbia from Feb. 1 to April 6, 2024, according to the recall notice.
Consumers who purchased this basil within the specified timeframe should either dispose of it or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
Trader Joe’s proactively removed all affected batches of the Infinite Herbs Organic Basil from its shelves in cooperation with directives from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall notice states.
The FDA also cautions against consuming any Trader Joe’s organic basil that has been removed from its original packaging as it may belong to the Infinite Herbs brand and thus be subject to the recall.

Primal Kitchen issues avocado oil recall due to potential bottle breakage
Primal Kitchen initiated a voluntary recall of select cases of its avocado oil due to concerns regarding potential breakage of the product’s glass bottles, leading to spillage.
The recall specifically targets 75-milliliter bottles of Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil with a best-by date of Aug. 19-Aug. 21, 2025. No consumer injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
Consumers who purchased the recalled Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil should discard the product and can contact the company directly via phone at 888-774-6259.
Potential E. coli contamination leads to national ground beef health alert
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a health alert concerning ground beef products from Greater Omaha Packing Co., citing potential contamination with E. coli bacteria.
This alert pertains to ground beef produced on March 28, bearing a use/freeze-by date of April 22 and a packaging date of “032824.”
A portion of this contaminated beef was inadvertently utilized in the production of ground beef products subsequently distributed for commercial sale, the recall notice states.
Given the serious health risks associated with E. coli contamination, including symptoms such as dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps, consumers and food service establishments should not consume or serve the affected ground beef.
While no illnesses linked to this alert have been reported thus far, FSIS emphasizes the importance of promptly disposing of or returning any potentially contaminated products.
