  • Who: JAKKS Pacific issued a recall for around 17,500 of its Mario Kart™ 24V Ride-On Racer Car toys.
  • Why: The toys recall was initiated over concerns the brake pedal on the recalled Mario Kart toys could stick after a user removes their foot, posing a crash hazard. 
  • Where: The recalled Mario Kart toys were sold to consumers nationwide. 

JAKKS Pacific issued a recall for around 17,500 of its Mario Kart™ 24V Ride-On Racer Car toys over concerns they could pose a crash hazard. 

The company said it is concerned the acceleration pedal on the recalled Mario Kart toys could become clogged with debris and stick after a user’s foot is removed from the pedal, according to a recall published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission April 25. 

The Mario Kart toys recall involves Mario Kart™ 24V Ride-On Racer Car toys with the date codes 1752VE01, 1782VE01, 1952VE01, 2242VE01, 2352VE01, 2852VE01, 0583VE01.

Consumers who purchased the recalled Mario Kart toys are advised to immediately stop using the product and to contact JAKKS Pacific to receive a free repair kit. 

Mario Kart toys recall: JAKKS Pacific has received 65 reports of debris-clogged pedals sticking on recalled toys 

JAKKS Pacific said it has received 65 reports of incidents of debris-clogged pedals sticking on the recalled Mario Kart toys, including 15 cases of the toys crashing into permanent structures and causing one injury. 

The recalled Mario Kart toys were sold online at Amazon.com, Macy’s and GameStop and in Target, Walmart, Entertainment Earth and Nebraska Furniture Mart store locations for around $400 from October 2022 through January 2024.
