LUXE+WILLOW Heated Blankets Recalled After Customer Burned
On Apr. 21, MWA LLC issued a recall of about 4,200 of its LUXE+WILLOW BIO brand heated blankets on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website.
The recall was issued after the company received three reports of the blankets overheating, including one report of a burn to a consumer’s wrist. One consumer reported seeing flames.
According to the recall notice, the blanket can overheat if left plugged in and powered on for an extended period of time.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled electric blanket and contact MWA for a full refund or $50 voucher towards the purchase of another LUXE+WILLOW product,” the notice says.
The company also asks customers to unplug the electric blanket, cut the electrical cord and submit a photo of the blanket’s cut cord and labeling on the blanket to the firm at support@luxewillow.com as proof of destruction to receive the refund or $50 voucher.
“After submitting proof of destruction to the firm, consumers should dispose of the recalled blanket,” the recall notice says. ”The firm is contacting all known purchasers directly.”
The blanket was sold at T.J. Maxx, Urban Outfitters and other stores nationwide from January 2022 through March 2022 for about $40.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Nectar Premier Mattress Recall Says Product Poses Fire Hazard
Meanwhile, about 700 Nectar® Premier Mattresses are being recalled as the product failed to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard.
In a recall notice posted Apr. 21 to the CPSC website, Nectar Premier Mattresses announced it was recalling king size mattresses manufactured on Sept. 24, 2021, and queen size mattresses manufactured on Sept. 27, 2021.
The recalled mattresses have a white poly-blend top cover with black side panels and a vertical purple sash, and the foot of the mattresses is marked with the large embroidered “Nectar” logo and the word “Nectar” imprinted in white. They have the date of manufacture on the white tag.
Consumers should contact Nectar Sleep for a free replacement mattress (including free delivery) or a full refund.
The refund will be provided after free removal and disposal of the recalled mattress. Nectar Sleep is contacting all known purchasers directly.
The mattresses were sold online at www.nectarsleep.com from July 2021 through September 2021 for between $1,300 and $1,600.
No injuries have been reported due to the mattresses not meeting safety standards, so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Meanwhile, nearly 5,000 plaintiffs stand to hold 3M accountable for injuries resulting from the use of their warming blanket, the Bair Hugger device.
A massive multidistrict litigation is now going on in a federal court in Minnesota, uniting about 4,700 plaintiffs who have filed a Bair Hugger lawsuit. The first such case to go to trial was decided in favor of 3M.
