Trek announced a recall for more than 96,000 bicycles as they have a brake hose that can detach, posing a crash hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall June 15. It applies to about 96,900 Trek bicycles sold with revision 1 of the Promax Solve DSK-925 and Promax F1 DSK-927 hydraulic disc brakes as original equipment.

You can see the exact models included in the recall here.

According to the recall, the brake hose on the Promax hydraulic disc brakes sold on the recalled Trek bicycles can detach from the brake lever, posing a crash hazard.

Trek received 195 reports of brake hoses detaching from the brake lever in the United States, according to the recall notice. No injuries have been reported so far.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Stop using recalled bikes, Trek recall says

Consumers should immediately stop using the bicycles with the recalled brakes and contact their local authorized Trek dealer for a free inspection and repair.

Consumers can check their bike’s serial number here to determine if their bike is included in the recall.

Trek sold the recalled products at Trek dealers nationwide and online at www.trekbikes.com from June 2021 through March 2023 for between $730 and $3,300.

In other bike-related news, in January, Sakar International recalled three models of its bike helmets as they don’t comply with federal safety standards, posing a head injury risk.
