Textron Specialized Vehicles has issued a recall on more than 12,000 Arctic Cat snowmobiles in the United States and Canada, as they can pose a fire hazard, with one report of a snowmobile catching fire.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall June 8. It applies to about 8,350 Textron Specialized Vehicles Arctic Cat 8000 Series Snowmobiles sold in the United States and about 4,630 sold in Canada.
According to the recall notice, the fuel rail dampener snap ring on the snowmobiles can loosen and leak fuel, posing a fire hazard.
The company received nine reports of fuel leaks and one reported fire so far, it says. No injuries have been reported.
Textron Specialized Vehicles is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Textron offers free repair, Arctic Cat snowmobiles recall states
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact Textron Specialized Vehicles to arrange for a free inspection and free repair, according to the recall.
Textron Specialized Vehicles is contacting all purchasers directly.
The company sold the snowmobiles in various colors that have “ARCTIC CAT” and the model number printed on each side of the engine cowling, the recall states. The vehicle identification number is on the front right-hand frame tube beside the right-hand shock.
The recalled products were sold at Arctic Cat dealers nationwide from January 2019 through April 2023 for between $15,100 and $18,900.
In March, Textron recalled Arctic Cat Alterra 600 and Tracker 600 all-terrain vehicles due to a faulty A-arm.
A month earlier, in February, the company issued a recall of more than 150,000 E-Z-GO PTV golf carts as the power boards on the vehicles can overheat, causing a fire.
