Liver King steroid class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Christopher Altomare filed a class action lawsuit against Brian “Liver King” Johnson and his companies The Fittest Ever LLC, and Ancestral Supplements LLC.
- Why: Altomare claims Johnson deceptively marketed his workout products, following his public disclosure that he used steroids to obtain his physique, something the fitness influencer had previously denied.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York.
Brian “Liver King” Johnson deceptively marketed his workout supplement and nutrition products to consumers since he was falsely claiming that he achieved his physique without the use of steroids, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Christopher Altomare claims Johnson and his companies The Fittest Ever LLC, and Ancestral Supplements LLC after Johnson recently admitted to using steroids to obtain his buff physique, reports Fox Business.
Johnson, a social media influencer, reportedly previously maintained that he did not use any steroids to obtain his brawny physique, but rather that he achieved it through consuming large amounts of raw offal.
After having now admitted to using steroids, Johnson has been accused of endangering consumers by pushing a diet consisting of uncooked organ meat and testicles, among other things, that Altomare argues has led to a “large portion” of consumers suffering from food borne illness, reports Fox News.
‘Liver King’ admits to steroid use after being outed on YouTube by rival bodybuilder/fitness influencer
Johnson acknowledged to his followers that he used steroids last month after a rival bodybuilder, via a YouTube video, leaked an email that showed him admitting to being on a steroid regimen that cost him $11,000 per month, reports the Toronto Sun.
In a separate case, early last year, Brian Michael Parks, the owner of MedFit Sarmaceuticals, pleaded guilty in a Virginia court early last year to charges that he had distributed unapproved drugs.
The guilty plea followed a years-long investigation by the Department of Justice that determined Parks had attempted to mislead and defraud customers, as well as the Food and Drug Administration.
Parks was sentenced to more than a year in federal prison and given a fine of $335,000, following his guilty plea.
