The Ford Motor Company is recalling 112,965 of its 2021-2023 F-150 trucks due to an issue with the rear axle hub bolt that can lead to rollaways.

The F-150 recall issue affects trucks equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall notice says.

The rear axle hub bolt may fatigue and break, which can result in damage to the axle hub splines, which can lead to rollaways when the parking brake is not used, according to the Ford recall.

Ford still working on F-150 recall fix but dealers can conduct interim fix

The Ford recall did not say if the company has received any reports of injury related to the recall so far. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Owner notification letters are expected to be sent by Jan. 24. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 related to recall number 23S65.

The exact fix for the issue is still in development, but dealerships can provide an interim repair if warning signs of rear axle breakage such as a clicking or rattling noise occur.

Ford initiated a recall in 2023 of more than 870,000 F-150 vehicles, as the electric parking brake in the recalled vehicles can activate unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

I brought my truck back over and over for the same issues and they could not hear the problem and they test drove and truck did not do it. Problems are plain as day and they know nothing this last Dec my warranties and or my extended warranty i purchased now expired i complained 1 last time of all the issues and they acted concerned and wrote down everything and i no longer got back home and they called and said truck is ready and found no issues… transmission issues and motor ticking loud after a recall for crank there was a letter put out by Ford not to do the adjustment per recall and to change it back and they did not have a clue as to what i was talking about played stupid. then i again talked to a gal that took care of repairs on it and she said oh that does not include your truck (then why did they do the recall) and was told they didn’t i have paperwork and recall letter saying different then i was told it is over with too late for free repair so i asked why was i not told this before ? They know nothing – there are records of my truck being there for issues i hope they did not disappear… Service dept was the worst i have ever dealt with in my life ! I have more issues i could share but it was all just a bad experience
