  • Who: Hearing Lab Technology and its subsidiary Lucid Audio issued a recall for the company’s Children’s HearMuffs sound compression earmuffs.

  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Hearing Lab Technology and its subsidiary Lucid Audio issued a recall for the company’s Children’s HearMuffs over concerns the AAA alkaline batteries used to operate the earmuffs can rupture and cause hearing, projectile or burn injuries.

The recall, which involves four different models of the children’s sound compression earmuffs, is for around 31,150 units in total, according to a recall published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Children’s HearMuffs models impacted by the recall include the LA-infant-ASM-WH, LA-infant-ASM-WHPlus, LA-kids-AM-WH and LA-infant-AM-WH, according to the children’s sound compression earmuffs recall.

Lucid Audio says consumers can find the model number on the original packaging for the Children’s HearMuffs, which were manufactured in multiple colors and sold for between $30 and $40.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled Lucid Audio Children’s HearMuffs and to contact the company directly in order to receive a free replacement pair of AAA batteries.

Lucid Audio receives 19 reports of AAA batteries rupturing in children’s sound compression earmuffs

Lucid Audio says it has received 19 reports of batteries rupturing; however, the company says no injuries related to the recall have been reported.

The recalled Children’s HearMuffs were sold nationwide at stores such as Sam’s Club and Kroger, as well as online, from between January 2018 and December 2021, according to the children’s sound compression earmuffs recall.

Consumers with more questions about the recall can contact Lucid Audio directly by phone at 833-408-0479 or by visiting the website the company has set up for the recall.

In related children’s recall news, UPPAbaby also issued a recall earlier this month for around 14,400 of its UPPAbaby All-Terrain RIDGE Jogging Strollers after the product amputated a child’s fingertip
