Huffy Corporation recalls Blue’s Clues ride-on toys

On Aug. 25, Huffy Corporation announced on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website that it recalled about 28,550 of its Blue’s Clues Foot to Floor Ride-on Toys.

The product is being recalled because the ride-on toy can tip forward when a young child is riding it, posing fall and injury hazards to children, the recall says.

Huffy says it has received 19 reports of children falling forward while they were riding the toy so far, resulting in 18 facial injuries.

“Consumers should immediately take the recalled ride-on toy away from children and stop using it,” the Huffy ride-on toy recall states. “Contact the firm for a free kit with instructions to install a new stop bar on the ride-on toy.”

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The recalled ride-on toy can be identified by its plush light blue fabric with spots. It is also in the shape of the cartoon dog character from Blue’s Clues.

The Huffy ride-on toy has four wheels and handlebars tucked behind the dog’s ears. The toy is intended for toddlers 1-1/2 to 3 years old.

It was sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online at www.walmart.com from August 2021 through July 2022 for about $40.

Epoch Everlasting Play recalls Kidoozie activity desk

Epoch Everlasting Play recalled about 8,200 Kidoozie brand My First Activity Desks in the United States and 1,830 in Canada.

The recall notice was issued Aug. 25 on the CPSC website.

It states that, when attached to a crib, a protruding knob on the activity desks can become entangled with clothing on a child, posing an entanglement hazard. The opening in the handle on the desks can also pose a jaw entrapment hazard to children under 18 months.

“Consumers should immediately take the toys away from children, stop using them and contact Epoch Everlasting Play for a free replacement or a full refund,” Epoch says.  “The company will provide consumers with a pre-paid shipping label to return the recalled activity desk.”

No injuries have been reported so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The Kidoozie activity desk has adjustable crib straps, four removable legs and buttons of various shapes. It also requires batteries. It was sold at Learning Express, Marshalls and independent toy stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com and Walmart.com from January 2020 through July 2022 for about $30.

In related news, in February, strollers, toys, walkers and pajama sets were recalled across the United States after being found to pose multiple safety risks to babies and children.

And in April, MerchSource issued a recall for around 46,200 of its FAO Schwarz brand Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddys and Toy Wood Sensory Boards.
