Target recall initiated after metal wire found in Market Pantry animal cookies
D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. initiated the recall when it found metal wire inside a portion of the cookies, the Target recall notice states.
“Foodborne foreign objects that are hard, sharp and large are more likely to cause serious injury or dental injury,” the company says in the notice.
They can also cause minor injuries such as transient choking or small lacerations in the gastrointestinal system, it added.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to stop consuming the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, according to the Target recall.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
The products were distributed to Target stores nationwide. No other lots or products are affected.
In other Target news, a pair of new class action lawsuits allege Walmart and Target place false and misleading advertisements on price displays and shelf signs.
Target is also facing a class action lawsuit alleging it does not let customers know about the free manufacturer warranties of some items it stocks in the hopes consumers will buy Target’s own in-house warranty.
