Healthy Choice recalls Korean-Style Beef Power Bowls
Our first top recall of the week occurred when a misbranding resulted in Healthy Choice recalling more than 22,000 pounds of frozen beef products. According to the recall, which was published Sept. 17 on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website, the misbranded product contains chicken sausage and pepper products, which contain an undeclared milk allergen.
The recall includes 9.25-oz. cartons labeled as “Healthy Choice POWER BOWLS Korean-Style Beef” with lot code 5246220320 and a “best by” date of April 18, 2023.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the product, but consumers are encouraged to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.
Spalding recalls basketball hoops due to fall risk
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted a recall notice Sept. 22 on its website for more than 13,000 Spalding Momentous EZ Portable Basketball Goals.
Welds in the arm attaching the backboard to the pole can fail and cause the backboard to fall, posing an impact injury hazard to consumers. Russell Brands initiated the recall after receiving 26 reports of weld failures including three backboards separating from the pole. Two injuries have occurred so far.
Spalding is contacting all known purchasers and offering arrangements for a technician to remove the original arm and install a new one on the goal systems. In the meantime, consumers should stop using the basketball hoops.
Nissan recalls Titan, Frontier pickup trucks due to rollaway risk
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall notice on Sept. 7 for more than 200,000 model year 2020 through 2023 Nissan Frontier and Titan pickup trucks with nine-speed transmission.
In this top recall, Nissan recalled the trucks after it found that the parking pawl, which prevents the vehicles from moving, may not engage when the trucks are in park. This can result in unintentional movement of the vehicles, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
A remedy plan for the affected vehicles is currently in development. In the meantime, Nissan advises owners to use their parking brake every time they park. Nissan says it will send affected owners letters on Nov. 1 detailing what to do next.
OTC medical devices, products recalled from Family Dollar
Family Dollar voluntarily recalled certain over-the-counter (OTC) medical devices and products after discovering they were stored outside of labeled temperature requirements.
The recall involves a variety of different products sold by Family Dollar, including condoms, pregnancy and marijuana test kits, lubricant, denture cleaning solution and saline nasal mists that were inadvertently shipped to some stores from between May 1 and June 10.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products may return them to the Family Dollar store they were bought from without a receipt.
Various pool, spa drain covers recalled due to entrapment issues
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling four brands of pool and spa drain covers as they pose an entrapment threat to swimmers and bathers.
Wadoy, Angzhili, Goetas and Chyir Myd drain covers were recalled as they each do not conform to the entrapment protection standards of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. Each of the pool drain covers were sold on www.amazon.com at different times. Owners can receive a full refund after submitting a photo of the recalled product.
