Pool, spa recall overview:

  • Who: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling four brands of pool and spa drain covers.
  • Why: The drain covers pose an entrapment threat to swimmers and bathers, the CPSC says.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling four brands of pool and spa drain covers as they pose an entrapment threat to swimmers and bathers.

The four recall notices were all posted Sept. 22 on the CPSC website, and in total more than 7,000 drain covers are being recalled. No injuries have been reported so far in relation to any of the drain covers.

In each of the recalls, the CPSC said the recalled drain covers do not conform to the entrapment protection standards of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, posing an entrapment hazard.

One of the recalls is for 5,500 Wadoy eight-inch pool main drain covers with screws and Wadoy eight-inch pool main drain covers with screws sold for use in pools and in-ground spas. They are white and made of ABS plastic.

“Pool owners, operators and consumers should immediately stop using pools and spas with the recalled pool or spa drain covers and contact Find4Fix for a full refund,” the recall says.

Consumers should remove the drain cover and submit a photo of it to the firm at guix12@hotmail.com as proof of removal and to receive the refund. Consumers should then dispose of the recalled pool or spa drain covers.
