Starbucks, Similiac, Toyota, Porsche, HelloFresh recalls overview:

  • Who: Starbucks, Similac, Toyota, Porsche, and HelloFresh faced recalls for their respective products this week.
  • Why: These top recalls revolve around product safety and possible risk of harm.
  • Where: The recalls are effective nationwide; some are effective for particular states.

A number of popular companies, retailers and manufacturers announced top recalls this week for products that may pose potential injury to consumers.

Starbucks espresso drinks recalled

On Sept. 8, the United States Food & Drug Administration issued a recall enforcement report for 221 cases of Starbucks brand espresso shots. The recall apples to 15 oz. Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot with 12 bottles per case, which were distributed to retail stores in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

The product was recalled due to a potential contamination of metal fragments. The Starbucks recall report does not state whether anyone has been injured by the metal fragments or the source of the fragments. It also did not state how the recall was discovered.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are encouraged to stop using it and return it to the place of purchase.

Abbott recalls Similiac baby formula

Abbott Nutrition initiated a top recall on Sept. 7 for 720 bottles of Similac Alimentum baby formula distributed in Ohio and Michigan due to defective packaging. The recalled product was packaged in 32 fl. oz. reclosable plastic bottles, sold in a case containing six bottles and has a best-by date of June 1, 2023.

The current Similac recall comes on the heels of a February recall in which Abbott recalled a large number of its Similac, Alimentum and EleCare powdered infant formulas over concerns they were linked to several infant illnesses, including one death.

Toyota announces recall for Lexus, Tundra vehicles

Toyota has initiated a recall for certain model year 2022 Lexus NX250, NX350, and Toyota Tundra vehicles after the it was discovered that the Skid Control ECU inside of the vehicles’ brake actuator assembly may incorrectly detect an overcurrent of the electronic parking brake actuator.

The defective electronic parking brakes may fail to engage, resulting in the vehicles rolling away and increasing the risk of a crash. The issue also causes the recalled Toyota and Lexus vehicles from being in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Consumers with affected vehicles may take them to a Toyota dealer, who will attempt to remedy the issue by reprogramming the vehicles’ Skid Control ECU free of charge.

Various Porsche cars, SUVs recalled

Rounding out our list of top recalls is Porsche, who posted a notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website on Aug. 30 for more than 193,000 of their model year Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Cayman S vehicles.

The caps that cover the low-beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws are missing, which can allow the headlights to be improperly adjusted. Improperly adjusted headlights may not illuminate the road properly and can cause a glare to oncoming drivers, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Porsche does not expect the defect to cause issues for many customers, however dealers will inspect the headlights for sealing caps as necessary free of charge.

HelloFresh health alert announced

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Sept. 10 for certain ground beef products distributed in HelloFresh meal kits.

The following recalled HelloFresh meals kits containing ground beef included in the public health alert may be associated with an E. coli 0157:H7 illness outbreak:

  • 10-oz. plastic vacuum-packed packages containing “GROUND BEEF 85% LEAN/15% FAT” with codes “EST#46841 L1 22 155” or “EST#46841 L5 22 155” on the side of the packaging. The ground beef packages bear “EST.46841” inside the USDA mark of inspection and on the plastic ground beef package.

Consumers are strongly encouraged to not consume any of the product and throw it away.

I had gone to several doctors & specialist over the problem had to take every product I used for month b4 this happened to me & the items were tested by labs & & I had several tests done as well & the reaction that happened was due to shampoo & conditioner. its been years since it happened & i still have medical treatments cause I still have problems with my Scalp, face, everywhere the shampoo & conditioner had touched during washing & rinsing my hair. what it caused is an extremely painful & permanent medical condition. thousands of ppl have had similar problems or other problems with the products as well some worse some not as bad but my reason for telling u this is when I saw the product on here I asked to be added & listed all proof I had included the pics & videos taken b4 & after using the products since I had many family events where pics & videos were taken month b4 using the products & then after I used the products.
