American Income Life Insurance Co. and Globe Life Inc. agreed to a $3.4 million class action settlement to resolve claims surrounding a 2024 data breach.
The Globe Life settlement benefits individuals who received a notice letter from American Income Life Insurance and/or Globe Life informing them that their personal information may have been involved in a data breach on or around Oct. 2, 2024.
A class action lawsuit filed against Globe Life and American Income Life Insurance accused the companies of failing to protect consumers from a 2024 data breach that compromised sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers and health insurance policy information.
American Income Life Insurance and Globe Life are insurance companies that offer life and supplemental health insurance policies, among other products, to consumers across the country.
The companies have not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $3.4 million class action settlement to resolve the 2024 data breach lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Globe Life settlement, class members can receive up to $5,000 for documented losses related to the data breach. This reimbursement covers bank fees, credit monitoring charges, professional fees, communication costs and fraudulent charges.
Class members can also receive compensation for up to four hours of lost time at a rate of $18 per hour, for a maximum lost time payment of $72.
All class members are eligible for two years of free credit monitoring through CyEx Financial Shield Complete. Class members have been provided with a unique code to activate these services. The settlement does not provide an alternative cash payment.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 16, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the class action settlement is scheduled for Dec. 14, 2026.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 19, 2026.
