Starbucks recalled 221 cases of espresso shots as the products may be contaminated with metal fragments.

The United States Food & Drug Administration issued an enforcement report on the recall Sept. 8.

The recall applies to Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot, 15 oz., 12 bottles per case. The identification code for the affected products is yet to be released.

According to the report, the product was distributed to retail stores in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to stop consuming it and return it to the place of purchase.

Starbucks recall report does not detail cause of metal fragments

The Starbucks recall report does not state whether anyone has been injured by the metal fragments or the source of the fragments. It did also not state how the recall was discovered.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

This is not the first espresso recall for Starbucks, which is owned by Pepsico Inc.

In March, Starbucks issued a major recall for more than 250,000 cases of Starbucks brand Doubleshot Espresso drinks as the drinks weren’t sealed properly. That meant the product, which contains milk, could spoil much quicker than it indicated on the packaging.
