Porsche recall overview:

  • Who: Porsche recalled more than 193,000 2003-2020 Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Cayman S vehicles.
  • Why: The headlights may be improperly adjusted, which could create a crash risk.
  • Where: The Porsche recall is active in the United States.

Porsche recalled more than 193,000 of its 2003-2020 model year Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Cayman S vehicles due to an issue with the headlights.

The recall notice was posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website Aug. 30.

The caps that cover the low-beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws are missing, which can allow the headlights to be improperly adjusted, the Porsche recall says.

Improperly adjusted headlights may not illuminate the road properly and can cause a glare to oncoming drivers, which can increase the risk of a crash, the company says.

Porsche recall says headlights issue will be fixed free of charge

Drivers can see here if their specific vehicle is affected.

Porsche says it does not expect the defect to cause issues for many customers.

“However, it is possible that someone could inadvertently adjust the lower beam horizontal adjustment mechanism to an improper setting,” the Porsche recall states. “Improper horizontal aim can create glare to other motorists or reduce operator’s visibility. This could increase the risk of a crash.”

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Dealers will inspect the headlights for sealing caps and install missing caps as necessary free of charge. They will mail owner notification letters Oct. 29, 2022.

In related Porsche news, in July, Porsche agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement worth at least $80 million to resolve claims its gasoline sports cars are marketed with misleading fuel economy ratings.
