Einkorn may be the oldest wheat known to scientists and considered man’s first wheat, but one company is recalling a range of products for not declaring that fact to consumers.

Stutzman Farms is recalling all of its products that include einkorn, including berries, flour, pretzels, nuts and crackers, due to the product labels not declaring wheat.

The products included in the recall are:

Stutzman Farms Einkorn Could Cause Serious Wheat Allergy Reaction

According to the recall notice, the products were sold across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. All lots of product that were prepared, sold or distributed from Stutzman Farms that contain einkorn are included in the recall.

To date, the company says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recall. However, it says people who have an allergy or sensitivity to wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled products.

“Customers with a wheat allergy who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to Stutzman Farms for a refund,” the company says.

Just days ago, a range of ready-to-eat meat sticks produced by seven different brands were recalled by food safety authorities due to fears they may also contain undisclosed wheat. The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert Mar. 1 for various meat products containing a seasoning mix that has been recalled by the producer, PS Seasoning of Iron Ridge, Wisconsin.

Also recently recalled for possibly containing undeclared wheat were Local Fixe’s Classic Lasagna Sheets, Soup Noodles, Dinner Rolls, Pie Dough, Squid Ink – Fettucine [sic] and Fresh Flour Tortillas.
