H-E-B Tomato Basil Soup Recall Overview:

  • Who: Fischer & Wieser Specialty Foods has recalled all bottles of its H-E-B Creamy Tomato Basil Soup.
  • Why: A customer reported that the soup they purchased contained a glass piece.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Fischer & Wieser Specialty Foods has recalled all bottles of its H-E-B Creamy Tomato Basil Soup after a customer discovered a piece of glass in their soup.

In a recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration, Fischer & Wieser says no injuries have been reported in connection with the product.

The soup comes in a 31.4-ounce jar and has a use by date of Oct. 14, 2022, which is printed on the jar below the lid. The UPC code is 4122070619.

Fischer & Wieser says all H-E-B Creamy Tomato Basil Soup products have been removed from H-E-B store shelves. Consumers who have the recalled soup at home can return it to any H-E-B store for a full refund.

Other Food Items Have Been Recalled For Glass, Metal Contamination This Year

The recall comes as a number of other food producers have had to pull products off the shelves due to possible contamination from glass and metal.

The fragment contamination has affected products such as blueberries, cupcakes, and Kool-Aid, among others. Costco issued a recall on Nov. 12 for Kool-Aid Tropical Punch mix, saying the recall was due to the “potential presence of foreign material, specifically very small pieces of metal or glass.”

Costco also published a recall for several frozen desserts sold at its locations, including its Clio Snacks brand Mixed Berry & Peach Less Sugar, Vanilla & Strawberry Minis, and Vanilla & Strawberry frozen yogurt bars. Clio Snacks says that the products may have been contaminated with small pieces of metal fragments due to an issue with a since-fixed production machine.

Another company that had to issue a nationwide recall of its products was Flower Foods, Inc., which recalled more than 10 Tastykake multipack cupcakes and krimpets products due to possible contamination with tiny fragments of metal mesh wire.
