MorningStar Farms is recalling certain lots of its Plant Based Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties due to potential contamination with plastic pieces.

The recall, announced on June 18 and publicized by the FDA on June 22, affects products distributed in the United States, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica.

The specific products involved are the 10.5 oz Plant Based Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and the 8 oz Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties.

These products can be identified by their universal product codes: 000 28989 10110 5 for the nuggets and 000 28989 10094 8 for the patties. The “Better if Used Before” dates range from July 5, 2027, to July 8, 2027.

The recall notice emphasizes that no other MorningStar Farms products are affected.

Consumers advised to discard affected products and get a full refund

MorningStar Farms urges consumers to dispose of any affected products immediately. The recall notice states that consumers can contact the company for a full refund.

Consumers seeking more information can contact the company’s Consumer Affairs department Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST by calling 800-962-0120 or texting 877-453-5837.

MorningStar Farms says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In April, Dorada Foods issued a public safety alert for its dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets due to potential lead contamination.
