Healthy Sense, People’s Choice vitamin recall overview:

  • Who: Mason Vitamins Inc. recalled some of its Healthy Sense and People’s Choice vitamins.
  • Why: The products contain lower vitamin levels than stated on the packaging.
  • Where: The Healthy Sense and People’s Choice vitamin recall is active in the United States.

Mason Vitamins has issued a recall of two of its vitamin products sold under the brands Healthy Sense and People’s Choice as the products have lower vitamin levels than stated on the packaging.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) posted the recall on its website Nov. 17. It applies to Healthy Sense Daily Multiple with Iron tablets and People’s Choice Women’s Daily Vitamins with Iron tablets.

According to the vitamin recall, the vitamin A, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin E and pantothenic acid amounts in the two products are lower than the declared amount on the label.

Healthy Sense, People’s Choice vitamins recalled after FDA inspection

An FDA inspection discovered the lower-than-advertised vitamin levels, the recall states.

To date, no illnesses related to the lack of vitamins have been reported, the recall states. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to in class action lawsuits.

No other People’s Choice and Healthy Sense products are affected by the vitamin recall. 

“If customers have product affected by this voluntary recall, they should discard it immediately,” Mason’s Vitamins says.

It sold the products nationwide at Bargain Barn, 99 Cents Only, Fruth Pharmacy, Joe V’s Smart Shop, Rose’s Discount Stores, Rex Discount Pharmacy, Star Discount Pharmacy, Propst Discount Pharmacy, Dollar Tree and limited distributors, the recall says.

The affected Healthy Sense Daily Multiple with Iron are those with lot number 25807G and expiration date of September 2024. 

The affected People’s Choice Women’s Daily Vitamins with Iron are those with the following lot numbers, all with an expiration of September 2024:

  • 25807G
  • A25807G
  • B25807G
  • C25807G
  • D25807G

In July, a consumer hit Pharmavite with a class action lawsuit alleging it falsely and deceptively markets some of its Nature Made Chewable Vitamin C products as being “Extra Strength.” 

In that lawsuit, the plaintiffs claim that Pharmavite’s Nature Made brand Extra Strength Chewable Vitamin C products don’t contain a higher dose of Vitamin C than their regular strength versions.
