Bausch + Lomb issued a recall for around 32,000 units of its Project Watson Eyelid Wipes for dogs over concerns bacteria and fungi can be introduced and grow in the product’s container after it is opened.

The dog eyelid wipes recall involves Project Watson Eyelid Wipes for dogs sold in a 45-count container with a lot number of A09050 or A10055 printed on its bottom.

Bausch + Lomb said it is concerned bacteria and/or fungi in the containers of the recalled dog eyelid wipes will pose a risk of a “serious infection” to people with a weakened immune system. Individuals who have wounds may also be at a higher risk of infection, according to the recall.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled dog eyelid wipes and to request a refund by submitting a picture of the product online prior to disposing of it.

Bausch + Lomb recall affects dog eyelid wipes sold from February 2023 through March 2024

Bausch + Lomb said it has received seven reports of a substance developing in a container of the dog eyelid wipes that has been opened and in use. No injuries to consumers or dogs have been reported, according to the Bausch + Lomb recall.

The recalled Bausch + Lomb dog eyelid wipes were sold online by Chewy and Amazon as well as at PetSmart, Walmart and other retail stores nationwide from February 2023 through March 2024 for between $13 and $15.
