Hyundai is recalling hundreds of thousands of Santa Fe and Elantra vehicles in the United States due to a rearview camera defect.
The Hyundai rearview camera recall was published to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website on Nov. 21.
It applies to 226,118 vehicles, including model year 2021-2022 Santa Fe, Santa Fe HEV, Elantra, Elantra HEV and 2022 Elantra N and Santa Fe PHEV vehicles.
According to the recall, the rearview camera image may fail to display on these vehicles due to a damaged printed circuit board,
A rearview image that does not display increases the risk of a crash, the recall says.
“An inoperative rearview camera will reduce rearward visibility while driving in reverse, increasing the risk of injury to bystanders,” the recall says.
Hyundai offers free fix
The source of the issue may be that the vehicles were produced with insufficient solder joints on the camera’s circuit board, which may worsen over time increasing the risk of camera failure, the recall says.
Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge, the Hyundai recall says. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by Jan. 19, 2025.

Now if they will get a recall for the hybrid system failure, pull over now , when the computer goes stupid from low voltage in the 12 volt system.
Almost got run over once and it just died in the road on the coldest day last winter. Hyundai no fix.
