Chrysler has issued a recall for more than 8,000 of its 2026 Ram 2500 pickup trucks due to a potential defect that could compromise vehicle safety.
The issue lies in the steering column control modules, which may cause the electronic stability control system to fail, increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these vehicles do not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, which pertains to electronic stability control systems.
The recall notice highlights that there is no prior warning before the failure occurs, but once the steering column control module resets, the electronic stability control light will illuminate on the instrument panel.

The recall notice emphasizes that the issue can occur without prior warning, making it crucial for owners to be vigilant. If the electronic stability control light illuminates on the dashboard, it indicates that the system may have failed.
The recall notice advises, “Customers can take their vehicle to the dealership to get the steering column control module replaced at no charge.” This replacement is offered free of charge to ensure the safety of the vehicle’s occupants.
Owners of the impacted trucks will receive notification letters by Nov. 24, detailing the steps they need to take to have their vehicles repaired.
