Lexus recall overview:
- Who: Toyota is recalling approximately 68,356 Lexus vehicles.
- Why: A dashboard display error could obscure critical engine warnings.
- Where: The recall is active in the United States.
Toyota is recalling more than 68,000 Lexus vehicles due to a defect in the instrument panel display that may prevent essential engine warnings from being visible. This issue affects several models, including the 2022-2024 Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350h Hybrid and NX450h+ plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the Lexus recall on Oct. 20. It specifically targets vehicles equipped with a 7-inch instrument cluster display.
The error occurs during the display’s startup process, potentially causing parts of the screen to go blank and hiding important indicators, such as engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature and electrical charge.
Toyota, responsible for Lexus, reported that the defect is present in all affected vehicles, although not all were sold in the United States.
Toyota to offer free software updates to Lexus vehicles
Toyota has assured that the necessary software updates will be provided free of charge at authorized Lexus dealerships. The company is also exploring the possibility of an over-the-air update for vehicles capable of receiving it, which would allow owners to update their systems without visiting a dealership.
The company plans to notify affected vehicle owners by Dec. 21, with notification letters expected to be mailed starting Dec. 7.

Earlier this year, Toyota recalled more than 144,000 Lexus vehicles, including the 2022โ2025 Lexus NX250 and NX350, due to a defect in the rearview camera system.
