Cadillac LYRIQ recall overview:ย

  • Who: General Motors issued a recall for more than 20,000 model year 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive.ย
  • Why: The recall was initiated because the vehicles may contain defective antilock brake systems that could cause loss of braking ability under certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.ย
  • Where: The GM recall affects certain Cadillac LYRIQ vehicle owners nationwide.ย

General Motors issued a recall for more than 20,000 model year 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles over concerns they have defective antilock brake systems.ย

GM said it is concerned the antilock brake systems on the recalled Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles could become overly sensitive during certain braking events on dry surfaces while driving at speeds below 25 mph.ย

โ€œA release of braking pressure can cause the service brakes to have reduced stopping performance or become inoperative, increasing the risk of a crash,โ€ the LYRIQ recall says.ย

The automaker attributes the issue to a software defect located in the vehiclesโ€™ electronic brake control module. The recall applies to 21,469 LYRIQ vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive, according to GM.

GM to remedy LYRIQ recall with software update

GM says it will remedy the recall issue by updating the software in the recalled Cadillac LYRIQ vehiclesโ€™ electronic brake control module.ย

Affected vehicle owners who previously accepted applicable terms and conditions will be able to receive the software update using wireless over-the-air technology, rather than by bringing their vehicle into a GM dealership, according to the GM recall.ย

GM says it plans to begin notifying affected vehicle owners about the recall on Sept. 23, 2024.ย

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact Cadillac customer service by phone at 1-800-458-8006 or contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.ย

Four GM vehicle owners filed a class action lawsuit against the automaker in July over claims it used defective paint on its vehicles; the lawsuit alleges the paint is prone to cracking, clouding and delaminating.

So, if according to the GM bulletin there has only been 7000 Lyriqs sold as of quarter two, then this recall is for every 2023 and 2024 made?
