Conagra Brands Rosarita Refried Beans Recall Overview:

  • Who: Conagra is recalling certain lots of its Rosarita Traditional Refried Beans Organic.
  • Why: Small rocks have been found in the cans of beans.
  • Where: The recall is effective nationwide in the United States.

Small rocks have made their way into cans of Rosarita Refried Beans, leading to a product recall by manufacturer Conagra Brands.

In a letter to consumers, Conagra says only certain lots of the Rosarita Traditional Refried Beans Organic are affected, and it is urging customers to check and see if they have any.

Rosarita Refried Beans Consumers Should Return Product to Costco

The recalled beans come in 16 oz. cans with the item number 1169666 and UPC code 00-0-44300-00009-4. The affected lot codes and best-before dates are:

  • 2105113120, best-by May 1, 2023
  • 2105113220, best-by May 2, 2023
  • 2105113320, best-by May 3, 2023
  • 5291113120, best-by May 1, 2023
  • 5291113220, best-by May 2, 2023

The company says it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to recall the beans, which are sold at Costco. Conagra is recommending customers refrain from eating the refried beans and instead return them to Costco for a full refund.

Conagra Brands is no stranger to product recalls spurred by small rocks contaminating food products. In November, it had to issue a recall for its Birds Eye Broccoli Tots due to the products containing metal fragments and small rocks, which at the time of the recall had already left two shoppers in need of dental work.

Just last month, Conagra also had to recall Wish-Bone branded Thousand Island and Chunky Blue Cheese salad dressings due to undeclared egg, which poses the “the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” to anyone with an egg allergy.
