Jif Peanut Butter Products Recall Overview:

  • Who: A number of companies have issued recalls following last week’s recall of certain Jif peanut butter products by J.M. Smucker.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the Jif peanut butter products were contaminated with Salmonella.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

A J.M. Smucker Co. recall of select Jif peanut butter products over Salmonella contamination concerns has triggered a number of additional recalls by companies who received the potentially tainted peanut butter.

The additional recalls included Albertsons Companies, which, in cooperation with J.M Smucker, recalled 11 of its store-prepared items on May 21.

Albertsons recalled the items due to concerns they were contaminated with salmonella from Jif peanut butter products provided to them by J.M. Smucker, according to a recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 24.

The recalled products were sold under a number of Albertsons Companies banners, including Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Eagle, Haggen, and Shaw’s, among others, according to the Jif recall.

The Jif peanut butter recall also triggered a recall from Taher Inc., which announced it was recalling its Fresh Seasons Power Packs due to the possible salmonella contamination.

The recalled Fresh Seasons Power Packs came in 6.3 ounce packages and were distributed in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, according to a recall notice published by the FDA on May 24.

Country Fresh, Coblentz, Mary’s Harvest, Garden Cut Recall Products Containing Jif Peanut Butter

Country Fresh also initiated a recall in response, with the company voluntarily recalling select fresh-cut fruit snack trays and fruit snack cups that contained Jif peanut butter.

The recalled fruit snack products were distributed in a number of states across the U.S. under the brand names Snack Fresh, Snack Sensations, Giant, Wegmans, and Market32, according to a recall notice published by the FDA on May 24.

Coblentz Chocolate Company has also issued a recall for certain peanut butter products that contain the recalled Jif peanut butter.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide and include Coblentz Peanut Butter Spread, Peanut Butter Fudge, and Buckeye Fudge, among a slew of other items, according to a recall notice published by the FDA on May 24.

Coblentz says it has stopped using Jif peanut butter in its products for the time being and that no illnesses related to the recall have been reported at this time.

Mary’s Harvest Fresh Foods, meanwhile, has also issued a recall in response to the Jif recall, voluntarily recalling its perishable Celery Peanut Butter Cup G&G and Apple Peanut Butter Cup G&G.

The recalled Mary’s Harvest products were distributed in Oregon and Washington from between Feb. 19, 2022 to May 23, 2022, according to a recall notice published by the FDA on May 24.

Mary’s Harvest says the recalled products contain the Jif Creamy Peanut Butter To Go 1.5 oz. cup that was included in the Jif recall.

The Jif recall also triggered a recall by Garden Cut, LLC, which on Monday issued a recall for its products containing a 0.75oz Jif Peanut Butter Cup.

The recalled products were distributed to seven states in the US, including Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, according to a recall notice published by the FDA on May 24.
