Jeep Wagoneer recall overview:
- Who: Chrysler recalled more than 97,000 of its model year 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs.
- Why: The automaker initiated the recall over concerns the vehicles have defective third-row seat belt buckles.
- Where: The recall is nationwide.
Chrysler issued a recall for more than 97,000 of its model year 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles over concerns they contain defective third-row seat belt buckles that are inaccessible or damaged.
Vehicle occupants in the recalled Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs may be unable to fasten their third-row seatbelts, increasing the risk of injury in certain types of crashes, according to the Jeep Wagoneer recall.
Chrysler says the seat belt defect also violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, which requires a vehicle to be equipped with seat belts that are properly assembled and structurally sound.
“This recall is not related to a part defect but rather an assembly issue where the vehicle may have been built with third-row seat belt buckles that are inaccessible or damaged,” the Jeep Wagoneer recall states.
Chrysler to inspect, replace seat belt buckles as necessary, recall states
Chrysler will remedy the issue by inspecting and, if necessary, replacing the third-row seat belt buckles on the recalled Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles, the recall states.
The automaker plans to begin notifying affected vehicle owners about the recall on or about Dec. 15, 2023, according to the Jeep Wagoneer recall.
Chrysler announced a separate recall for more than 44,000 of its Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles in August over concerns they were equipped with airbags that could fail to deploy properly.
