(April 18, 2022)
Ashley Furniture Industries LLC faces a false advertising class action lawsuit alleging the furniture chain dupes customers with fictitious “original” prices, leading them to falsely believe they are purchasing furniture at bargain prices.
Plaintiff Stephanie Alberl of California says she relied on Ashley’s deceptive pricing scheme when she purchased a metal twin bed and mattress from the company’s website. The twin bed allegedly was listed at a sale price of $96.99 with a reference price listed at $159.99.
Aberl alleges she decided to purchase the metal twin bed because she believed the discounted price would not last long, and she believed she received a significant bargain of nearly 40% off the regular price of the bed.
“However, this product was never offered for sale at the original price listed on Ashley Furniture’s e-commerce website and certainly not within the 90 days preceding [Aberl’s] purchase,” the deceptive pricing class action lawsuit alleges. “Nor was it listed for sale at the full price in an Ashley Furniture brick and mortar store.”
Ashley Furniture false reference pricing artificially inflates true market price, plaintiff claims
The class action lawsuit explains that false reference pricing occurs when a seller lists a fake “original” price for a product and offers the product at a significantly lower “sale” price to entice bargain hunters to purchase the product.
This type of deceptive pricing allegedly “artificially inflates the true market price for these products by raising consumers’ internal reference price and in turn the value consumers ascribe to these products.”
Retailers are thus able to sell products at prices above their true market price and value, leaving customers to pay inflated prices, according to the deceptive pricing class action lawsuit.
The class action lawsuit asserts claims for violations of California’s unfair competition laws, false advertising laws and the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act.
Aberl filed the deceptive pricing class action lawsuit on behalf of herself and a proposed class of people in California who purchased one or more products from the Ashley website that were advertised at a discount from an advertised reference price who have not received a refund or credit for their purchase.
Ashley has also faced allegations that it failed to list promised delivery dates on sales documents in violation of New Jersey state laws.

I made a purchase on June 14, 2022 I spent almost $10,000 in the store and right now I’m trying to get my furniture repair one of the chairs broke my son’s dresser is broke they brought me a new one yesterday when they open the box it was all broken so I refused to take it so they took it back call the store customer service sucks no response to my question when I will get my furniture ready all they said I have to wait until October furniture‘s been damaged I’ve been calling back to get a replace they say won’t be replaced until October I don’t think it’s fair I’m being so stressed out from Ashley I don’t get any answer.

Please add me to your claim we have purchased around $5000 in furniture from them. All saying it was at a discounted price.
I worked for them in Ga and it’s horrible how they treat there employees that’s why I left. Hours stolen. Cussed out by manager and told the problem with me is I feel that I’m entitled when they steal money from the employees based on there emotions. Steal your time and a whole bunch more. Ponzi scheme establishment and ain’t nothing you can do
I have also experienced this. I bought almost $20K furniture from Ashley and they always have the sale going. After the purchase I did the reconciliation myself and found the accounting fraud as well. They returned almost like ~2K back in other purchases. It is very messy and they follow shady practices. They must be audited.
I purchased items starting in 2019 and 2020. I paid for warranty on items purchased. Contacted Ashley on this matter. Sent pictures of defective items to date though several contacts no resolution or contact was made accept sending me a number in a email (unknown as to for verification). They fail to resolve problem but yet charged me for warranty. Please add me to the list to file a claim. Note: Won’t purchase from Ashley again they fail to keep warranty agreement
Never again purchasing from Ashley’s Furniture.
Prices don’t go back to regular price, they are year round sales. Delivery took forever. Furniture is not the highest quality, so it does damage very easily.
& their “warranty” is crazy
I purchased a counter height dining room table with 4 pub style stool chairs and was promised I would receive it within 2 weeks. Didn’t receive it for months with each month I called to see if my set would be delivered as promised, the delivery date was pushed out another month. This was for each time I called and I finally received it 7 months after the purchase.
Yes
I purchased a living room set from Ashley furniture on 9/8/21. I was told they deliver to my area once a month, and that I would receive my furniture by the end of October at the latest. I received 3 of 8 pieces 6 months later. And still waiting on the rest 11 months later. I was recently told one is no longer available. I need help with this. Add me to the list.
