TJX chairs recall overview: 

  • Who: TJX recalled around 29,000 of its foldable wood and rope bistro set chairs. 
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the wood frame of the recalled bistro set chairs could break or collapse while the chair is in use, creating a fall hazard. 
  • Where: The recalled TJX bistro set chairs were sold nationwide. 

TJX recalled around 29,000 of its foldable wood and rope bistro set chairs over concerns their wooden frame could break or collapse while being used, creating a fall hazard. 

The recall involves TJX foldable wood and rope bistro set chairs sold as part of either a three or five piece set, with some sold under Nautica or House & Garden brands, according to a recall published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Dec. 21. 

TJX said it has received eight reports of the wooden frame’s of the recalled bistro set chairs breaking during use, resulting in six minor injuries. 

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the recalled bistro set chairs and to return them to any HomeGoods, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Homesense or Sierra store to receive a full refund. 

Recalled TJX bistro set chairs sold nationwide from March 2020 through September 2023

TJX is also advising consumers to contact the company directly to receive instructions on how to dispose of the recalled bistro set chairs and how to receive a full refund, according to the TJX recall. 

The recalled TJX bistro set chairs were sold online and at Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Homesense and Sierra stores nationwide from March 2020 through September 2023 for between $130 and $350 for sets and between $40 and $80 when sold individually.

In a previous recall over a fall risk, TJX recalled a range of its office chairs in March of this year over concerns the chairs could break, creating a fall hazard.
