Settlement checks are in the mail for Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), data breach and privacy class action lawsuits. Some of these checks are worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

West Shore Home TCPA class action rebates

Checks are in the mail for a $1.3 million TCPA class action settlement with West Shore Home. The home remodeling company allegedly called consumers with advertisements without their consent.

The settlement benefits individuals whose phone numbers were collected by West Shore Home as part of a Facebook advertising campaign and who received prerecorded calls from the remodeling company at least twice in a 12-month period between Nov. 15, 2016, and Feb. 15, 2022, despite their numbers being registered with the National Do Not Call Registry.

According to plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit, West Shore Home collected consumer phone numbers through a Facebook ad campaign. After collecting these numbers, the remodeling company allegedly contacted consumers with pre-recorded messages advertising its $5,000 sweepstakes drawing. Plaintiffs in the case say these calls violated the federal TCPA.

West Shore Home agreed to pay $1.35 million to resolve these allegations. Class members were eligible for an equal share of the net settlement fund. According to Top Class Actions readers, each claimant is receiving a settlement payment of $369.

To receive a settlement check, class members had to submit a valid claim form by May 16, 2022.

Hudson’s Bay Company data breach class action settlement payment

Readers are reporting receiving checks for as much as $5,000 from a $2 million Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) class action settlement. The deal resolved claims Hudson’s Bay Company failed to protect consumer information in a data breach.

The settlement benefits anyone who used a credit, debit, or prepaid card (other than a Saks First branded credit card) at a Saks location, Lord & Taylor store or Saks OFF 5TH between May 1, 2017, and April 1, 2018.

Plaintiffs in the data breach class action lawsuit accused Hudson’s Bay Company of negligence which allegedly caused a large data breach. The breach reportedly compromised payment info of cards used at Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks OFF 5TH, Hudson’s Bay Company and Lord & Taylor locations.

Hudson’s Bay Company agreed to pay up to $2 million to resolve these claims. Under the terms of the settlement, class members could receive $30 if their information was compromised and reimbursement of up to $5,000 for out-of-pocket fraudulent charges stemming from the breach. Readers have reported receiving checks ranging from $30 to $5,000 depending on their data breach damages.

In order to receive a settlement check, class members had to submit a valid claim form by Jan. 31, 2022.

The Hudson’s Bay Company data breach class action lawsuit is In re: Hudson’s Bay Company Data Security Incident Consumer Litigation, Case No. 1:18-cv-08472, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

TikTok minor privacy class action rebates

Young TikTok users may start receiving checks from a $1.1 million minor privacy class action settlement with the social media platform. Plaintiffs claimed TikTok failed to get parental consent before collecting minors’ information.

The settlement benefits people who registered for or used TikTok, or its predecessor Musical.ly, while under the age of 13, along with these individuals’ parents.

According to the privacy class action lawsuit, TikTok failed to get parental consent before allowing users under the age of 13 to create an account. As a result, the social media platform allegedly collected information from these children in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

TikTok operators agreed to pay $1.1 million to resolve these allegations. Class members were projected to receive between $10 and $15, though one Top Class Actions reader reports their payment was much lower, at $3.64.

In order to receive settlement benefits, class members had to submit a valid claim form by July 24, 2021.

The TikTok minor privacy class action lawsuit is T.K., through her mother Sherri LeShore, et al. v. ByteDance Technology Co. Ltd., et al., Case No. 1:19-cv-07915, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

CaptureRx data breach class action settlement checks

Patients affected by the 2021 CaptureRx data breach may start receiving payments from a $4.75 million data breach settlement. The settlement resolves claims of negligence surrounding the data breach.

The settlement benefits a nationwide class of consumers who were notified by CaptureRx that they were affected by the February 2021 data breach. 

In the spring of 2021, CaptureRx informed 1.9 million customers a data breach compromised their sensitive information, including medical records and prescription data. A subsequent class action lawsuit accused the company of negligently failing to protect consumer data.

CaptureRx agreed to pay $4.75 million to resolve these claims. Under the terms of the settlement, class members could receive $25 if they were part of the national class. Californians could recover an additional payment of $75 for a total recovery of $100. Actual payments reported by Top Class Actions viewers are around $50.

In order to receive settlement benefits, class members had to submit a valid claim form by June 27, 2022.

The CaptureRx data breach class action lawsuit is In Re: CaptureRx Data Breach Litigation, Case No. 5:21-cv-00523-OLG, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

TD Bank NSF fees class action settlement payment

Checks are in the mail from a $41 million class action settlement with TD Bank. The settlement resolves allegations the bank charged multiple non-sufficient funds, NSF, fees on single transactions.

The settlement benefits consumers who were charged retry NSF fees by TD Bank during various periods between Nov. 30, 2008, and Sept. 7, 2021.

Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit accused TD Bank of retrying transactions in order to charge multiple NSF fees on a single transaction. Consumers say they were charged numerous $35 NSF fees over the course of several days despite these “retry” fees violated TD Bank’s account policies.

TD Bank agreed to pay $41 million to resolve these allegations. Class members in the settlement could receive partial reimbursement for retry NSF fees along with debt forgiveness if their accounts were closed with negative balances.

No claim form was required to benefit from the settlement.

      Well the only way you can get involved in a class action suit is if it’s relevant to you like I know there’s a Facebook class action suit for anyone who has a Facebook account and has pressed the like button from a different app that links to the Facebook app because they had some kind of tracking on the like button even if it was pressed in their app they could see all your web browsing and what you were doing on your device. If you have a Facebook and you’ve had one for a while I would actually go and look up the Facebook class action suit because everybody can get compensation for that and they said it should be between 20 to $50 or something that’s just an estimate and I guess that they threw out they’re not positive so it could be more and what you want to do if you want to get involved in any class actions is you want to look up probably class actions October 2022 that require no proof of purchase unless you have proof of purchase for certain ones but yeah to find the most current ones say this month and year and you’ll find several websites that will show you every class action that is currently going on
