Kroger agreed to a $17 million class action settlement to resolve claims it charged unfair prices for prescription drugs.
The Kroger settlement benefits consumers who paid for one or more prescription drugs from Kroger using insurance at any point between Dec. 9, 2018, and Aug. 23, 2026.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit accused Kroger of overcharging for prescription drugs by misreporting its “usual and customary” prices to insurance companies. By reporting inflated prices, Kroger allegedly forced insurance companies to reimburse it at higher rates, causing insured customers to pay more for their prescriptions.
Kroger is a brand chain that operates grocery stores and pharmacies in locations around the country.
Kroger has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $17 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.
Under the terms of the Kroger settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount they paid Kroger for prescriptions during the class period. Exact payment amounts will vary depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement and the amount each class member paid for their prescriptions.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 22, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the class action settlement is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2027.
To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Dec. 21, 2026.
