Walmart is recalling about 165,000 Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers due to potential tip-over and entrapment hazards that could result in serious injury or even death to a child.

Announced on May 28, the recall affects dressers sold nationwide at Walmart stores and online from September 2023 through March 2026.

The Mainstays dressers, manufactured by Hop Thang Interior Wood Co. Ltd. in Vietnam, feature a black metal frame with nine fabric drawers in brown or black. They measure approximately 40 inches in length, 13.75 inches in width and 45 inches in height, weighing 32 pounds. The dressers were produced between September 2023 and December 2025, with tracking number HCV202601 and production date 01/2026 printed on a label under the top panel.

According to the Walmart recall, the dressers do not meet the mandatory safety standards set by the STURDY Act.

Consumers advised to stop using Mainstays dressers unless properly secured

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the Mainstays dressers if they are not anchored to a wall and/or placed in areas inaccessible to children.

The dressers were sold for approximately $80, and customers are instructed to return the drawers to any Walmart store and dispose of the frame according to local regulations.

Walmart is offering full refunds to affected customers. Consumers can contact Walmart at 800-925-6278 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or visit its website help page.

Walmart says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In other news, Walmart is facing class action allegations it misled consumers by labeling its Bettergoods brand almond, oat and soy milk as “plant-based” despite the products containing ingredients that do not come from plants.
