Nectar mattress class action overview:
- Who: Plaintiff Adam Aldrich filed a class action lawsuit against Resident Home, LLC, Ashley Global Retail LLC, and Ashley Furniture Industries LLC.
- Why: Aldrich alleges Nectar mattresses leak toxic fiberglass into consumers’ homes without adequate warning.
- Where: The Nectar mattress class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.
A new class action lawsuit alleges Residential Home’s Nectar mattresses contain toxic fiberglass that leaks into consumers’ homes through regular use.
Plaintiff Adam Aldrich claims Nectar failed to disclose that their memory foam mattresses contain a fire-retardant fiberglass sock that seeps through the outer cover, releasing glass particles into the surrounding environment.
“Fiberglass poses a serious safety risk to consumers,” the Nectar class action lawsuit says, alleging that exposure can cause severe skin, eye, and respiratory irritation and that even minor contamination can require professional remediation costing tens of thousands of dollars.
According to the class action lawsuit, once airborne, fiberglass travels through home ventilation systems, embedding permanently in clothing, furniture, and carpeting throughout the entire residence.
The complaint alleges Nectar concealed this defect from product labeling while marketing the mattresses as safe.
“Plaintiff and similarly situated consumers paid a price premium for their mattresses, as they would not have purchased the mattresses (or would have purchased them on substantially different terms) had they known about the defects from it and the risk to their health and safety,” the complaint says.
Defendants face claims under California’s Unfair Competition Law, False Advertising Law, and Consumer Legal Remedies Act, as well as fraud, unjust enrichment, and breach of express warranty.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief, restitution, and compensatory and punitive damages for himself and all class members.
Class action: Nectar shows a history of concealment
The Nectar class action lawsuit further alleges that the company has a history of concealment that predates Aldrich’s purchase of a Queen-size mattress in March 2022.
According to claims in the lawsuit, in 2019, Nectar denied using fiberglass in their products entirely, only acknowledging its presence after public consumer complaints forced their hand.
Even then, the company claimed the material was “not the harmful type [of fiberglass] that most think of” — a characterization the complaint directly disputes, noting there are no non-irritating types of fiberglass.
The class action argues that Nectar initially encouraged consumers to wash the removable outer cover without any fiberglass warning; while a vague label added around 2022, due to customer complaints, cited the risk of “injury or death” but never mentioned fiberglass.
Aldrich states that, “The leaking fiberglass was discoverable only after purchase and use of the Mattresses,” and that a tag on the mattress listed “Glass Fiber … 23%” but gave no warning the material would escape through regular use.
Meanwhile, the Mattress Firm is facing allegations it misled consumers into believing they were receiving substantial, limited-time discounts on their products.

add me – I don’t want any Ashley store credit either.
I just purchased a mattress from them back in October of last year and had I known all this I would not have made such purchase.
I also was somewhat pressured by a limited time discount/offer of just a couple of days to make my purchase decision.
I bought a Nectar Queen mattress in 2025 my husband complains of something biting him on his arms and legs. The mattress is horrible. We both woke up every day with back, hip, joint pain.
Finally, we couldn’t take it anymore. I had to replace the mattress.
Bought a queen 10/2020 as well as bed frame. Frame is horrible and mattress is lopsided. I’ve had
horrible, what I thought were allergies as well as bumps that itch horribly on
arms and legs.

Purchased a Nectar mattress in April 2022. I’ve wondered if there was something else going on with my health, but it could be the mattress.
