Target is recalling its Up & Up baby wipes, specifically the Fragrance Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented varieties, due to potential microbial contamination.

Target announced a voluntary recall on June 4, subsequently published by the FDA on June 5.

The affected products have been linked to consumer complaints about discoloration and adverse reactions like skin and eye irritation. The products were sold nationwide in Target stores and online at Target.com.

The Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes are affected in five package sizes — 20, 72, 216, 800 and 1,200 count — with universal product codes (UPC) 85239265956, 85239265963, 85239265949, 85239266137 and 85239266090. The applicable manufacturing date codes run from Nov. 7, 2025, to May 5, 2026, with corresponding expiration dates between May 10, 2028, and Nov. 5, 2028.

The Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes are affected in three package sizes — 72, 216 and 800 count — with UPCs 85239265994, 85239265987 and 85239265970. These products carry manufacturing date codes of Dec. 29–30, 2025, and expiration dates of June 29–30, 2028.

Both product lines were manufactured by supplier Sapro Temizlik Urunleri and packaged in plastic pouches.

The contamination involves Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli, which can cause serious infections, particularly in newborns and individuals with compromised immune systems.

Consumers advised to stop using recalled wipes immediately

Consumers are urged to discontinue the use of these Up & Up baby wipes immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

Target is actively addressing the situation by collaborating with the manufacturer to investigate the complaints and adverse event reports. The company is committed to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its customers and is taking all necessary steps to resolve the issue.

For more information about the baby wipes recall, consumers can contact Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680, available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT daily.

Target says it has received reports of adverse events allegedly connected to the products. The company is not currently facing legal action over the Target baby wipes recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Last year, a California judge gave the go-ahead to a class action lawsuit against Costco alleging its Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes contain toxic PFAS substances despite being marketed as “natural.”
