Casely is recalling its wireless portable power banks due to the risk of overheating and igniting, which can lead to severe injuries or even death. The recall affects approximately 429,200 units of the model E33A portable power bank.
The Casely recall was reissued on April 16, 2026, following the initial recall in April 2025.
The portable power banks, which are 5000mAh portable MagSafe wireless phone chargers, were sold online at getcasely.com, Amazon.com and other e-commerce platforms from March 2022 through September 2024, priced between $30 and $70.
The recall was prompted by reports of the lithium-ion batteries overheating, expanding or catching fire. Initially, 51 incidents were reported, resulting in six minor burn injuries.
Since then, 28 additional reports have surfaced, including two severe incidents: one fatality and another serious incident on an airplane.
“The recalled lithium-ion battery in the portable power banks can overheat and ignite, posing risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards to consumers,” the Casely recall states.
Consumers urged to stop using powerbanks after two severe incidents
The recall notice advises consumers to stop using the portable power banks immediately. The portable power banks in question have model number E33A printed on the back, with “Casely” engraved on the front side.
The notice also emphasizes the importance of proper disposal, warning against throwing the batteries in the trash or general recycling bins due to the heightened risk of fire.
Casely is addressing the issue by offering free replacements for the affected portable power banks. Consumers are instructed to visit the company’s website, fill out an online form and submit two photographs of the portable power bank to receive a replacement. The photos should include the front of the portable power bank marked “Recalled” with the date, and the model number on the back.
For more information, consumers can contact Casely toll-free at 888-964-9331 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. They can also reach out via email at [email protected].
Casely says it has received reports of one fatality and one serious injury related to the Casely recall so far. Last June, the company was hit with two class actions filed in New York alleging violations of consumer protection laws.
