MyLife.com is a Scam, Says Class Action Lawsuit
By Sarah Pierce

MyLife.com

Are the people behind Classmates.com back to their old tricks? That’s what a federal class action lawsuit is claiming.

The class action lawsuit accuses the company behind Classmates.com of preying on new victims by rebranding itself as MyLife.com after it lost a class action lawsuit last year. Classmates.com was sued in 2008 for defrauding consumers out of money by using spam emails that falsely stated individuals and past acquaintances were trying to contact them. Classmates.com settled the class action lawsuit last year for $9.5 million, but the crew behind Classmates.com has continued the scam under the new name MyLife.com, says the class action.

According to the MyLife class action lawsuit:

“MyLife.com is a scam that begins with a false solicitation telling potential victims that ‘someone’ is searching for them, and they can find out who by paying a small fee. If this ruse succeeds in convincing the victim to provide credit card or other payment information for a ‘free trial period’ or a low-price membership ($9.95 per month), MyLife then overbills the victim’s credit card for a much larger amount, often more than $100. In exchange for this payment, MyLife provides access to a list of fake names of people supposedly ‘searching for you,’ together with access to a worthless website that is of no conceivable value to anyone.”

As if that’s not bad enough, the class action continues, “MyLife hacks into their address books to target their friends, family and other contacts with spam solicitations stating that ‘someone’ is looking for them. This starts the cycle anew by priming the pump with a fresh crop of victims that MyLife tricks with false solicitation, overbills and hacks.”

The MyLife class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons, worldwide, who purchased services from www.mylife.com, from the date the site commenced operation through the present. It is also seeking to certify a subclass of all class members who purchased services from MyLife for personal, family or household purposes. It is seeking damages, restitution and other relief.

  1. Jessie Logan says:

I was searching for information about my father and came across this MyLife website. I signed up for a 10$ one time fee just for the one report that I wanted. My bank account shows that 10$ fee, plus a 45$ payment AND third 55$ payment!
The information on this website has a mixture of true and fake stuff. My mothers page has more of my own personal information instead of hers.

    1. Teresa Birmingham says:

Hello you did something similar to me exceptions I never downloaded the app I received an email opened it was not interested and as I’m searching through the web doing something else I received email stating that they received my payments two of them totaling $260 I complain about it and they say I don’t have that on my life.com I went back to see they had removed it there refusing to give me my money back. I could really use some help I found this site because I would like to sue them any information you may have that I could use I would greatly appreciate it

  2. Paul Nick Buk says:

My life has false information on it.
How they get the info sounds like it’s a site for people who want to Trash other people reputation as revenge or something.

  3. Brian Baker says:

  4. Harry Regician says:

Conjurers is all mylife.com AND clasmates.com is ALL about. If there were ANY Federal Consumer Protective Agency in tge USA BOTH of these con artist should have not only been shut down butvalso imprisoned under the RICO act like organized crime criminals.

    1. Denell Jacobs-McCurry says:

Please add my name in the Class action lawsuit against Mylife.com. They put up false background information that adversely affected me. Defamation of character. My rights were violated.

  5. Charlotte Duerig says:

How can I be added to this lawsuit? Mylife basically extorts you into paying to remove your info and once you pay, the link doesn’t work to remove the info. I’ve requested to opt out twice and they are still sending me emails saying that someone is searching for me and that my “reputation is at risk.” This is horrible and should be illegal for them to just give out private information.

  6. Erwashundah Jacobs says:

Please include me in any class action lawsuit against Mylife. Because they are still up and operating and causing great harm with no accountability. I don’t understand what impact these lawsuits are supposed to have on the integrity of these companies. If they’re only slapped on the wrist with fines, just to turn around and continue the same corrupt practices as before. Enough is enough. Mylife and any company like it online is causing harm to people’s reputation and their safety and needs to shut down. If joining a lawsuit can’t help with this, then what needs to be done?

  7. Angelica Romero says:

    Add me

  8. Dave says:

I just replied to an email sent to me from MyLife warning me of negative items on my report…which is ridiculous. This is my reply, hopefully more can be done to hold these companies responsible.

Please remove me from your site. I find your information to be erroneous and defamatory in an attempt to illicit membership fees and correct things that were never there to begin with.
Be advised, I am also watching for any class action lawsuits I can join in an effort to shut down your company (MyLife) and others like yours, at the very least to hold your type of business accountable for any inaccurate information being placed into a public forum without any notice or permission of the person(s) you are reporting and potential reputation you are clouding. I will also encourage any friends and family to do the same.
Unless you can accurately, 100 percent guarantee your information you’re taking a big risk of being liable for the injury of others with your information data logarithmic formulas.

    1. Charlotte says:

      Dave,
      Did they remove your info?

  9. James Moore says:

Please include me in any class action lawsuits against My Life.com

  10. Paulita T Reed says:

That have criminal records listed and I have never even had a speeding ticket. This information is defamatory.
