MyLife.com is a Scam, Says Class Action Lawsuit
By Sarah Pierce

MyLife.com

Are the people behind Classmates.com back to their old tricks? That’s what a federal class action lawsuit is claiming.

The class action lawsuit accuses the company behind Classmates.com of preying on new victims by rebranding itself as MyLife.com after it lost a class action lawsuit last year. Classmates.com was sued in 2008 for defrauding consumers out of money by using spam emails that falsely stated individuals and past acquaintances were trying to contact them. Classmates.com settled the class action lawsuit last year for $9.5 million, but the crew behind Classmates.com has continued the scam under the new name MyLife.com, says the class action.

According to the MyLife class action lawsuit:

“MyLife.com is a scam that begins with a false solicitation telling potential victims that ‘someone’ is searching for them, and they can find out who by paying a small fee. If this ruse succeeds in convincing the victim to provide credit card or other payment information for a ‘free trial period’ or a low-price membership ($9.95 per month), MyLife then overbills the victim’s credit card for a much larger amount, often more than $100. In exchange for this payment, MyLife provides access to a list of fake names of people supposedly ‘searching for you,’ together with access to a worthless website that is of no conceivable value to anyone.”

As if that’s not bad enough, the class action continues, “MyLife hacks into their address books to target their friends, family and other contacts with spam solicitations stating that ‘someone’ is looking for them. This starts the cycle anew by priming the pump with a fresh crop of victims that MyLife tricks with false solicitation, overbills and hacks.”

The MyLife class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons, worldwide, who purchased services from www.mylife.com, from the date the site commenced operation through the present. It is also seeking to certify a subclass of all class members who purchased services from MyLife for personal, family or household purposes. It is seeking damages, restitution and other relief.

  1. Amy Haynes Abbott says:

I have called the 800 number twice to have the information removed. I told them they do not have my permission to use my picture. They turn around and post the same profile a month later. I don’t have a record, have never lived the places they say and am not related to the people they say. I have made a police report as this confussion has affected my life in a negative way which includes stalking and rumors.

  2. Bill Wright says:

According to federal law, bankruptcies are dropped from the record after 10 years. Mine was much longer than 10 years and they are still reporting it
    Add me to the suit

    1. Lynne says:

They had the nerve to put a family picture of me, my husband, and our then-infant son online under my husband’s profile. We have no idea how they got that private picture, but they had no permission to post it! False information about pretty much my whole family, including one of my adult kids whose only “court records” were from a divorce that he didn’t want. Nice way to make people look like they might be criminals. I’m glad most people know this is a horrible racket, but I pity those who were truly hurt in one way or another.

  3. Bhushan Athale says:

I need to sue them for making my expunged cases & my personal records public. I need them to pay heavily for being nosy & AH.

They said my account was closed on November 25, 2019 and I have the email confirming it but then I was charged another $99.90 in December 2019 I also have an email from them dated January 2 stating they would issue the credit back to my account but they have not done so as of today’s date.

False information displayed about myself, friends, and family has slandered my name, destroying personal relationships and employment opportunities resulting in stress, depression, ptsd job loss anxiety and financial hardship. Extortion, fraud, blackmail, and the violation of the 4th and 8th amendments as well as double jeopardy and statue of limitations. I would very much like to see mylife held accountable and compensate victims for the pain and suffering they caused. Please include me in the class action suit. Thank you.
